Say hello to February’s Glisten Girl of the Month, Miss Anastasia Rubakovic. This green-eyed Serbian bombshell is a trifecta- she’s smart, talented and beautiful! She has played the violin since grade school and tennis was her passion growing up. Even though she doesn’t play competitively anymore, don’t be fooled…she still has a mean top spin! She recently graduated from UCLA with a BS in Human Biology and Society and plans to get her masters before she heads off to medical school. She recently re-vamped her diet and got serious about fitness after realizing how good it makes her feel. Read more to learn how Ani makes health a priority in her life.
How do you make health a priority?
I just recently started becoming interested in being healthy. I’ve always been small no matter what I ate, so eating right and working out never really concerned me. It wasn’t until recently that I realized there was more to it than how you look, that being healthy is about how you feel. I’ve completely revamped my eating habits, and started cooking my own meals. I love the idea of knowing EXACTLY what I’m eating. Also cooking is such a fun de-stresser.
We’ve noticed that you are looking fitter than ever. What’s your secret?
The past year or so I started working out on a regular basis. I go through phases and right now I’m into Kayla Itsines’s Bikini Body Guide workout plan, it’s great! But honestly I think any workout is a good workout. It wasn’t until I started eating healthier that I began seeing major results. I NEVER thought I’d say it, but I actually love a good salad. I stick to eating lots of fruits, veggies, and sea food, can’t really go wrong with that. Pinterest has become my best friend, I spend hours finding all kinds of easy, healthy recipes.
What is your go to song when working out?
I actually don’t listen to music when I work out. I catch up on TV instead.
Do you have a favorite power-up snack?
Yes, I love making chia seed pudding and topping it with fruit, nuts, cinnamon, etc. You can get creative and add whatever you like.
What food do you splurge on?
I have a major sweet tooth, so anything chocolate. But I try to be healthy so I’m currently obsessed with experimenting with all kinds of home-made banana ice cream concoctions.
What makes you glisten?
I just started getting into Yoga. I’m a total “newb” but I love it so far. It’s very relaxing. That, and drinking a nice warm cup of tea. I switch between rooibos, mint, jasmine green, and a detox tea because they’re all suppose to be good for your skin.
