It’s the day before we embark on our “30 Day Refined Sugar-Free” Challenge!! So, we thought we would give you a a great way to get rid of the sugar in your kitchen. We hate wasting food, so this the perfect way to put your sugar to good use. If you have ever used a sugar scrub before, you know how amazing your skin feels after using one. If you’re a sugar scrub virgin then you’re in for a treat!
We’ve been making this sugar scrub for about three years now and everyone loves it! Plus, it’s super easy to make. We suggest keeping the sugar scrub ingredients on hand so you can whip some up when you need a cute gift for someone. All you need is white sugar, brown sugar, essential oils, and a carrier oil plus some small glass jars. For a carrier oil you can use whatever oil you prefer. We like to use nut oils, olive oil, coconut oil or even sunflower oil. It’s truly your preference. This time we chose to use walnut oil because it has amazing benefits for your skin. Plus, it was on sale. Bonus!
Making sugar scrub at home is more economical than buying it at body shop. I’ve seen it sold for more than $40 before! You can make it at home for much cheaper. The most expensive part of making the sugar scrub is buying the essential oils. The oils cost $5.99-$9.99 per bottle but the good news is that they last a very long time.
- 2 cups white sugar
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups carrier oil (we use walnut oil)
- Essential Oils (we like tangerine, peppermint, and lavender)
- Small glass jars
- Add the sugars and the carrier oil to a large bowl.
- Mix until combined.
- If you are making more than one scent, fill each individual jar with sugar-oil mixture then add the essential oil until you are satisfied with the scent; about 20 drops.
- Stir to distribute the oils throughout the jars.
- Place the lid on each jar.
- Add a label and instructions for use.
When you give your sugar scrub as a gift, be sure to also write down the instructions for using it. Feel free to copy the ones below:
Instructions: This gentle exfoliating sugar scrub can be used on your face and body up to three times per week. 1. Rinse your skin with warm water. 2. Apply a small amount of sugar scrub onto skin and rub gently in circular motions for at least 30 seconds. Breath in the refreshing aroma and think relaxing thoughts. 3. Rinse with warm water. 4. Wash with a gentle cleansing soap and apply moisturizer/lotion if desired. Although you might be tempted, please do not eat your sugar scrub.
Don’t forget that tomorrow is the first day of our 30 Day Refined Sugar-Free Challenge! It will start tomorrow and finish the day before Valentin’e Day. We are doing this challenge because we love our bodies, not because we hate them. Our bodies do so much for us, so this is our way to honor them. That’s why we are going to eat only delicous natural sugar in the form of vitamin-rich fruits for 30 days. Worried about giving up sugar for one whole month? Don’t worry, we will be here for you along the way. Get ready for some great recipes that will get you through this challenge.
As Always, we send you LOVE and PEACE without grease!
