It’s that time again! We have already happily gobbled & trotted through November. We are excited to announce our new Glistener of the month, Ms. Renee De La Parra!

We have both known Renee since high school (seems like ages ago now that we are all university graduates!), back in the La Quinta Blackhawk days, she was an avid sprinter, turned cross country runner (Bee takes credit for convincing her to run 5K’s). She is hard working, ambitious, and continues to make health a priority in her life. She is an aspiring pediatrician, currently prepping for Med School, working long hours in as a scribe in the ER, but still manages to make health a priority in her life.

How do make health a priority? I try to keep running, aiming for 3 times a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less. If I’m not running, I’ll be found in my living room doing abdominal workouts and yoga stretches from a new video on YouTube. I try not to over eat and focus on the good things, like wholesome grains and non-GMO corn. I try to get 7-8 hours of beauty rest each night because sleep is more important than we think.

What is your go-to song? “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift. If I’m working out, you can find me blasting some rap like Pit Bull, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, or Ricky Martin.

What’s your favorite power snack? Almond butter and celery, just like Bee likes. Yum!

What’s your favorite splurge? Frozen yogurt. Flavor: Caffe Latte. Toppings: strawberries, almonds, Heath bar, mochi, and granola.

So, you’re also a bit of a fashionista… Yes, I’m a big believer if your hair is done and you have lip stick on, you are good-to-go. If you are able to wear heels all day, everyday, then you also rock! I also love wearing scarves or a statement necklace. Oh and I love when I’m out and about and find a killer deal, that’s the best!

What makes you Glisten? I am happiest when I with family and friends. We don’t even have to be doing anything but talking. Good company makes all the difference. I also love to smile. I used to have braces which even though it was silly, I was self conscious about having them. Now, I love to smile, and no one can take that away.

How would you inspire others to Glisten a little more each day? It’s important to be comfortable with being yourself so that others see who you are. If you know who you are, it will radiate through, and you will be glowing from the inside-out.

If you had a quote or motto, what would it be? “Don’t worry, just live everyday to the fullest!” or “Don’t think, just do!”

Congratulations and thank you, Renee, for being our featured Glisten Girl of the Month!

Sending you LOVE and PEACE, The Glisten Girls
